April Heartworm Test and Prevention Clinic
April is Heartworm Awareness Month, so the Licking County Humane Society wanted to offer these low-cost testing and prevention clinics throughout the month to do our part in preventing this dangerous disease.
- Heartworms in dogs are easy to prevent, but very difficult to cure.
- Heartworms kill a great number of dogs every year.
- The American Heartworm Society reports that more than one million dogs currently have heartworm disease.
- Heartworms are spread by mosquitoes, so any area of the country that has mosquitoes—even just a few of them—can also have heartworm disease.
These clinics will offer a FREE heartworm test for your dog if you purchase 6 months of heartworm protection such as Zoetis PROHEART 6 injection or Heartguard Plus Chewables.
Note – this is NOT our Low-Cost Wellness Clinics. Return to the Pet Healthcare section of our website to sign up for that service.
The Heartworm Testing and Prevention Clinics will be by appointment only and held on 3 Fridays in the month of April at LCHS, 825 Thornwood Dr. Heath, OH 43056.
To view clinic dates & make an appointment for your dog (6 months or older), sign up on the website below (click on image):

We ask that only 1 person and 1 pet is signed up for each time slot, and the person accompanying the pet must wear a mask.
We are a Humane Society that is offering this service to our community – we are not a veterinary practice.
We are unable (unequipped) to see sick or injured pets. If your animal is injured or ill, you will need to contact your regular veterinarian or an emergency veterinary hospital and have your pet seen by them.
Please be at the shelter 5 minutes before the START of the timeframe you’re signed up for.
We also ask that no more than 1 animal be brought per person and that all owners please wear a mask. We will only be allowing 3 people at once to enter the shelter.
All dogs must be on slip-proof leashes. Please do not bring dogs with bark collars; other dog’s barking can trigger a response from your dog’s collar.
You will NOT be able to pay online, so please bring payment with you on the day of your clinic. We can accept cash, check, and credit.
If you have any questions, please call us at (740) 323-2100 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
